Wire and solid blade eye speculums differ in blade construction, with open wire blades on one and solid blades on the other. Both styles can share one pattern name. The Jarit catalog from Integra lists its Barraquer adult speculum with solid blades and with open wire blades. Other speculum pattern names include Lieberman, Lancaster and Knapp. Titles often give the blade size in millimeters, and some add the blade spread. Integra lists a Knapp speculum with 15 mm blades and a pediatric Barraquer with 9 mm blades and a 12 mm spread. On Castroviejo suture forceps, 0.12 mm is the size of the teeth at the tip. Titles often pair it with the tooth pattern, written as 1 x 2 teeth. Other tooth sizes exist, and the Jarit catalog from Integra lists a 0.3 mm version. Not every small figure refers to teeth.
