233 products · sorted by price (high to low)
Brun curettes here often have oval cups and are sold singly or in sets. Cobb curettes are usually longer spinal curettes, most often listed at 11 inches. Spine listings also include cervical curettes, and other titles name bayonet curettes. Across the page, titles list straight, forward angled and reverse angled curettes. ENT listings include Buck ear curettes, mastoid curettes and antrum curettes. Uterine curettes include blunt sets and lots. V. Mueller, Codman and Jarit are among the makers named in these titles. As an independent dealer, Clear Choice Medical has no affiliation with any manufacturer.
To match a curette you already have, start with the maker and catalog number. Then compare the pattern name, cup shape and size, shank angle and overall length. A double-ended curette has a working tip at each end, so check both tips in the photos. Because each photo is of the actual item, you can compare it with the piece you are replacing. All sales are final and returns are not accepted, so contact Clear Choice Medical with any question before you order. Orders include free domestic shipping and a 30-day warranty against functional defects.
Common questions about Surgical Curettes
What is a surgical curette?
A surgical curette is a scraping instrument with a handle and a small cup, scoop or ring at the working end. The National Cancer Institute defines a curette as a spoon-shaped instrument with a sharp edge. Curet is an accepted alternate spelling of the same word. Some makers group curettes by specialty. Ambler Surgical lists separate curette groups for orthopedic, neuro-spinal, ENT and OB/GYN instruments. The tip still varies within one group. For example, the Symmetry 23-1017 is an angled cone ring curette in size 2, 229 mm long. So read the tip type, size, angle and length together when you compare listings.
How does a Brun curette differ from a Cobb curette?
In maker catalogs the Cobb curette is usually the longer of the two, though both are bone curettes with a cup tip. Aesculap lists its FK581R Cobb bone curette at 280 mm with oval cups. Its FK617R Bruns bone curette is 165 mm long. Boss Instruments lists Brun curettes at 6 1/4, 6 3/4 and 9 inches, and its Cobb spinal curettes at 11 inches. Both patterns come straight or angled, and Boss Instruments also lists a reverse angled Cobb. Some titles on this page join the two names, describing a Brun curette with a Cobb handle. So read the full title, then compare the length, cup size and shank angle.
Are Brun, Bruns and Spratt curettes the same?
Brun, Bruns and Spratt often name the same curette pattern, but makers do not use the names the same way. Brun and Bruns are two spellings found in catalogs, as with Boss Instruments items 70-7255A and 70-7204. Integra Miltex lists 19-704 as a Spratt (Brun) curette at 6 3/4 inches with an oval cup. Boss Instruments lists 70-6910 as a Brun (Spratt) curette at 6 1/4 inches with a round cup. Aesculap uses Spratt on its MA058R mastoid curette and Bruns on its FK617R bone curette. Both of those Aesculap pieces are 165 mm long. A shared name is not proof of a shared design. So match the catalog number, cup shape, size and length.
