So read the tip description in the title, not only the pattern name. Look for teeth, serrated or smooth next to that name.

How are surgical forceps sizes listed?

Thumb and ring-handled forceps are sized by overall length, while laparoscopic forceps are sized by shaft diameter and working length. Overall length may appear in inches or centimeters, such as 4-3/4 inches or 12 cm. One inch equals 2.54 cm, so convert before you compare two listings. Fine patterns often add a tip or jaw width in millimeters, such as a 2 mm DeBakey tip. On a laparoscopic title, 5 mm x 32 cm usually describes a 5 mm shaft with a 32 cm working length. Cup forceps may give the cup size in millimeters or a maker's size number, such as size 1 or size 2. Compare the same kind of measurement across listings, and do not treat overall length as working length.
