The French scale measures outer diameter, and one French unit equals one-third of a millimeter. A 24 Fr sheath therefore measures 8 mm across. A continuous-flow sheath set places an inner sheath inside an outer sheath, with separate inflow and outflow ports. Gyrus ACMI lists the Elite 2 inner sheath, outer sheath and visual obturator as separate parts at 27.6 Fr.
